BJP fields Abhishek Kumar for Bankipur assembly bypoll in Bihar

New Delhi, Jul 7 (PTI) The BJP on Tuesday announced its candidate for Bankipur assembly bypoll in Bihar, fielding Abhishek Kumar from the seat. The Bankipur Assembly byelection will be held on July 30 and the votes polled will be counted on August 3. The vacancy arose following the resignation of BJP national president Nitin Nabin as an MLA from the seat in Bihar. Nabin was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member. Kumar has been named as the BJP candidate from the seat for bypolls with approval of the party's Central Election Committee (CEC), according to a notification issued by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh. Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor is contesting from the Bankipur assembly seat that had elected Nabin five times on the trot. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday fielded Rekha Gupta as its candidate from the seat, bringing to an end the speculation of Mahagathbandhan offering support to Kishor. PTI PK PK KSS KSS
