Bhubaneswar, Jul 13 (PTI) A class 11 student died allegedly after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment in Bhubaneswar while visiting his classmate on Monday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Rofan Qureshi, a student of a private school in the city.
According to police, Qureshi had gone to the apartment in Niladri Vihar area within Chandrasekharpur police station limits to meet his classmate when she was alone at home.
Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said the incident took place after the girl's mother returned to the flat, following which the boy allegedly panicked.
"In a panic mode, the boy went to the bathroom. When the bathroom was opened, he was not there. From preliminary investigation, we found that the deceased moved to the service duct adjacent to it in an attempt to avoid being noticed. His bag was found at the duct on the ninth floor," he said.
Police suspect that the boy fell from the ninth or 10th floor while attempting to avoid being seen. His body was found in the basement of the apartment, the DCP said. PTI BBM BBM MNB
