New Delhi, Jul 6 (PTI) The NHRC on Monday said it has issued a notice to the Karnataka government over the death of seven migrant labourers on July 2 in a quarry tragedy in Bengaluru and sought a detailed report from it in two weeks.
Taking note of media reports that the incident indicated negligence by the quarry owner, the National Human Rights Commission has observed that the content of the news reports, if true, raises serious issues of violation of human rights.
The seven labourers, including five from Madhya Pradesh, were killed when a massive granite rock had slid from the top and fell on them at the quarry in Karnataka, a police official earlier said and blamed "negligence" for the fatal incident.
