Hyderabad, Jul 14 (PTI) An Assistant Engineer at the Municipal Office in Peddapally district of Telangana was caught red-handed by the ACB on Tuesday for allegedly taking bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh.
Subsequently, unaccounted cash of Rs 32.31 lakh was seized from the house of the accused officer during searches at his residence.
The accused officer was caught by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at his residence when he demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant for showing official favour "to process and forward final bill pertaining to the contract work of development of a grave yard" executed by the complainant for an amount of Rs 12.28 lakh, an ACB release said.
The bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh was recovered from the possession of the accused officer, who performed his duty "improperly and dishonestly" to obtain undue advantage of official position, the ACB said.
The accused officer is being taken into custody, arrested and will be produced before the court, it said.
The case is under investigation, the ACB added. PTI VVK VVK KH
