Actor Randeep Hooda urges people of Manipur to embrace peace, harmony

Imphal, Jul 16 (PTI) Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda on Thursday appealed to the people of Manipur to unite as one family and embrace peace and harmony during a meeting with Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh, an official statement said. Hooda, accompanied by his wife, Manipuri actor Linthoingambi Laishram, called on Singh at the chief minister's bungalow in Imphal. During the meeting, Hooda congratulated Singh on assuming office as the chief minister despite the challenging law and order situation in the state. Singh acknowledged the challenges of taking charge during the ongoing crisis but expressed confidence that normalcy would be restored soon. Referring to his recent peace initiative in Jiribam district, the chief minister said the trust deficit among communities there had narrowed, and people were again living together peacefully. He also said the government is extending all possible support to protect the lives of people and urged all communities to extend their support to the peace process to help restore peace and harmony and foster a cohesive environment. After the meeting, the CM along with the Bollywood couple had a traditional 'khechri' on the occasion of Rath Yatra (Kang) festival. PTI COR MNB
