Kolkata, Jul 12 (PTI) An active monsoon will bring heavy rainfall over some districts of West Bengal till July 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday. The sub-Himalayan districts of the state, which have been lashed by torrential rain for the past few days, are also likely to experience heavy precipitation till July 14, it said in a bulletin. The southern districts of Bankura, Birbhum, Purba and Paschim Bardhaman, Nadia and Murshidabad could receive heavy rainfall till July 14, while light to moderate rain is likely in the other districts of the region, it said. Pundibari in Coochbehar district received the highest rainfall in the state at 89 mm in the past 24 hours till 8.30 am on Sunday, IMD data showed. Other places that experienced significant amount of rain include Gandrapara (66 mm), Hasimara (62 mm), Alipurduar (58 mm), Darjeeling (38 mm), Dum Dum (38 mm) and Chel (35 mm). The IMD forecast an overcast sky over Kolkata, with the likelihood of one or two spells of moderate rain till Monday morning. The minimum temperatures in most places of the state hovered around 25-27 degrees Celsius, it said. High relative humidity, however, was a cause for discomfort for people, with the figures crossing 90 per cent at many places. Suri in Birbhum district recorded 100 per cent relative humidity on Saturday, the data said. PTI AMR RBT
