7 persons arrested on charges of gang-raping Ranchi woman

Ranchi, Jul 15 (PTI) Jharkhand Police has arrested seven persons in connection with the alleged gangrape of a 19-year-old woman in Ranchi district, officials said on Wednesday. The survivor, along with a man known to her, had gone to a village within Ratu police station limits on July 12, where she was gang-raped. "We have arrested seven people, including the main accused in this case. In all, eight people were involved, and raids are underway at several locations to apprehend the remaining one. The victim’s medical examination has been conducted," Ranchi (Rural) SP Gaurav Goswami told PTI. All the arrested accused are adults, and they are being interrogated, the SP said. Ratu police station Adikant Mahto said the matter came to light on Tuesday when the rape survivor informed police. An FIR was lodged based on her statements. PTI RPS RPS MNB
