Rohtak Haryana Khadi Gramodyog Cotton Handloom Weaving

Contributed by Swadesi Knowledge Team

Rohtak district in Haryana is one of north India principal Khadi Gramodyog clusters, with village-level spinning societies managed by trained women spinners under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Hand-spun cotton from Haryana fields is processed on charkha wheels into count-42 to count-80 yarn, then woven into 44-inch khadi cloth on pit and frame looms by registered cooperative members. Rohtak Khadi products include kurta fabric, saree metres, school uniform cloth, and government-tendered bed sheet material. Annual Khadi Utsav exhibitions at Rohtak display seasonal collections. The cooperative also produces khadi polyblend fabric for urban fashion buyers from Delhi NCR boutiques. KVIC subsidies under the Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme support new loom setup and artisan training in Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Sonipat satellite villages.
