About Swadesi

Editorial Policy

This policy governs how Swadesi gathers, verifies, edits, and publishes journalism. It applies to all content on swadesi.com, including news articles, Living Stories, and translated material.

Independence

Swadesi's editorial decisions are made solely by our editorial team. No advertiser, investor, government body, or platform partner has any influence over what we publish, how we frame stories, or which subjects we cover.

Editorial oversight

All published content is reviewed by our editorial team before publication. Our Editor is responsible for final editorial decisions and is accountable for the accuracy and fairness of everything published on swadesi.com. Editorial staff can be reached at [email protected].

Accuracy and corrections

We verify facts before publication. When we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently — with a dated correction notice at the top of the affected article. We do not delete published content to hide mistakes. To report an error, email [email protected] with the article URL and the specific correction needed. We respond within 2 working days.

Source transparency

We name our sources wherever possible. When sources request confidentiality for legitimate reasons, we describe them as specifically as we can without endangering them. We do not use anonymous sources for primary claims.

Wire content

Swadesi publishes news from PTI (Press Trust of India), India's principal national news wire. PTI articles are published with credit and may be edited for length or to add local context. PTI content is not original Swadesi journalism and is attributed accordingly.

Living Stories and consent

Our Living Stories feature follows real people over extended periods. Participation is entirely voluntary. Every subject signs a written consent document before their story is published. Subjects may withdraw consent at any time; we will archive the story and remove it from public feeds within 24 hours.

Translation policy

English-language content is machine-translated into 10 Indian languages using our self-hosted IndicTrans2 system. Translated articles are labelled "Translated by AI". We do not alter meaning in translation. Critical news (BREAKING priority) is reviewed by a language editor before publication where possible.

Sponsored content

We do not currently accept sponsored content. Any future commercial content will be clearly labelled "Sponsored" and kept entirely separate from editorial content in our systems and presentation.

Complaints and corrections

Editorial complaints and correction requests can be sent to [email protected]. We respond within 5 working days. If we cannot resolve a complaint to your satisfaction, we will refer you to the Press Council of India.
