Rampur Rampuri Knife Blade Craft Uttar Pradesh

Rampur in UP is famous for its Rampuri knife (Rampur ka chura) — a spring-action folding knife with a bone or brass handle and high-carbon steel blade. The craft was patronised by Nawabs of Rampur who employed blade craftsmen. The folding mechanism and blade tempering are distinctive to Rampur's Muslim metalworking community. The knives were once feared as weapons; today they are craft collectibles and utility tools. Over 5,000 artisans produce knives in Rampur's old city workshops.
