Munger Begusarai Ganga Industrial Corridor Firearms
Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team
Munger district on the Ganga's south bank is famous for its firearms manufacturing industry — a tradition dating to the Nawabi period when Mir Qasim established arms workshops in Munger, which evolved into the government Bihar School of Engineering and a licensed private firearms industry producing country-made shotguns, pistols, and rifle barrels sold across India. Munger's Bihar School of Engineering (1900) was one of India's first technical institutes and its building is a colonial-era heritage structure. Begusarai district across the Ganga is Bihar's industrial hub with the Barauni oil refinery (one of India's oldest, 1964) and thermal power plant that anchor the Ganga's northern industrial corridor.
