Faridabad Peri-Urban Vegetable Farming Delhi NCT

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Faridabad district's peri-urban villages supply fresh vegetables to Delhi NCR's enormous retail and wholesale markets, with farmers growing tomato, cauliflower, okra, and leafy greens on irrigated plots and marketing them through Azadpur mandi agents and direct farm-to-retailer linkages. The proximity to Delhi creates a high-margin peri-urban agriculture zone where farmers receive 30 to 50 percent higher prices than equivalent crops in interior Haryana. Progressive Faridabad farmers have adopted vertical farming and hydroponics in polyhouses to produce premium cherry tomatoes and capsicum for Delhi's hotel and restaurant industry.
