Charkhi Dadri Mustard Groundnut Oilseed Farming
Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team
Charkhi Dadri's shallow Aravalli soils support rabi mustard and kharif groundnut cultivation on well-drained sandy loam land where deep-rooted crops access subsoil moisture during dry spells. The district's groundnut crop is harvested in October and pressed for oil at village expellers, with the oil cake used as cattle feed and the peanuts sold at Bhiwani mandi. Mustard cultivation in Charkhi Dadri's villages follows the traditional Haryanvi farming calendar and provides the primary cooking fat for the district's households, with ghani-pressed oil retaining a pungency and flavour that refined commercial mustard oils lack.
