Changthangi Pashmina Nomadic Rearing Leh Ladakh

Ladakhi Pashmina is produced by the Changpa nomadic pastoralists of the Changthang plateau in Leh district, who rear the Changthangi goat (Capra hircus laniger) at elevations above 4,500 meters. The Changthangi goat produces the world's finest natural fibre — Pashmina underdown — combed from the inner coat in spring.
