What you get
JSY provides cash assistance to promote institutional delivery among BPL and Scheduled Caste/Tribe pregnant women. Cash incentive: Urban areas: Rs 1,000 per delivery. Rural areas in Low Performing States (LPS - 10 states): Rs 1,400/delivery. Rural areas in High Performing States (HPS): Rs 700/delivery. ASHA worker receives Rs 200-250 incentive for each institutional delivery she promotes. Payment made directly to the beneficiary's bank account. Cash incentive has reduced maternal mortality significantly since JSY launch in 2005.
Who can apply
Pregnant women aged 19+ from BPL or Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe households. Up to two live births. Delivery must be in a government health facility or accredited private hospital. Pre-natal care registration and at least 3 ANC check-ups required.
