Pineapple Queen Variety Cultivation — Tripura

Tripura is India's second-largest pineapple-producing state, growing the prized Queen variety — small, golden, intensely sweet and fragrant compared to the Giant Kew. Pineapples are grown on hilly red laterite soils from Gomati to West Tripura districts. Sucker planting in rows, minimal input cost, fruit in 12–18 months. Tribal and settled farmers maintain mixed pineapple-rubber agroforestry systems. GI-tagged Tripura Queen Pineapple is now reaching NE Spice Board auctions and Delhi markets. Tripura horticulture department provides subsidy for pineapple planting material and drip irrigation.
