Panchkula Shivalik Multifloral Honey Beekeeping

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

The Shivalik hills of Panchkula district support extensive beekeeping by progressive farmers and tribal community members who maintain Apis mellifera hives in the wildflower-rich forest margins, harvesting multifloral honey from acacia, eucalyptus, karanj, and seasonal wildflowers in a migration pattern between valley mustard fields in winter and hill wildflowers in monsoon. Panchkula honey is sold at Chandigarh's organic markets and through the Punjab Beekeeping Society, which provides training and hive subsidies to new beekeepers in the Shivalik belt. The district's honey quality certification programme through FSSAI ensures authentic natural honey from traceable hive locations.
