Mirzapur Bhadohi Carpet Weaving Uttar Pradesh

Mirzapur and Bhadohi together form Asia's largest carpet weaving cluster, contributing 40% of India's carpet exports. Tufted, handknotted, and flat-woven dhurrie carpets are produced on thousands of cottage looms. Designs range from traditional Persian medallions to contemporary abstract patterns. GI-tagged Mirzapur carpet employs over 10 lakh weavers — mostly women — in Mirzapur, Bhadohi, and surrounding villages. The industry generates Rs 6,000 crore in exports annually to the US, UK, Germany, and Australia.
