Dalkhai Sambalpuri Folk Dance Odisha

Dalkhai is the signature folk dance of western Odisha (Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir regions), performed by young women during Dussehra and harvest festivals. Dancers wear traditional Sambalpuri attire — Bomkai sarees and gold jewellery — and perform in circles to the beat of dhol, nisan, and tasa drums with Sambalpuri folk songs. The energetic footwork and expressive hand movements make Dalkhai one of Odisha's most celebrated folk dances. Baripada and Sambalpur cultural academies preserve the tradition.
