Anand Amul Dairy Cooperative White Revolution Gujarat

The Anand Milk Union Limited, known universally as AMUL, is headquartered in Anand district, Gujarat, and represents one of the world most successful cooperative enterprises. Founded by Dr Verghese Kurien and Tribhuvandas Patel in 1946, AMUL pioneered the three-tier cooperative dairy model — village dairy cooperative societies, district unions, and state federation — which became the template for India National Dairy Development Board and the White Revolution Operation Flood programme. Farmer members from three million households in Gujarat supply milk twice daily to village chilling centres. AMUL processes the milk into butter, cheese, ice cream, condensed milk, and UHT milk under the AMUL brand. The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation markets AMUL nationally and exports to 50 countries. AMUL model has been replicated in Verka Punjab, Vijaya AP, Nandini KA, and other state federations across India.
