Nagpur Orange Citrus Vidarbha Maharashtra
Contributed by Swadesi Knowledge Team
Nagpur is India's orange capital, producing the GI-tagged Nagpur Mandarin (Citrus reticulata) known for its distinctive sweet-acidic flavour and easy-peeling rind. Grown on the black cotton soils of Vidarbha across Nagpur, Amravati, and Wardha districts, the crop reaches peak harvest in November-December. Over 2 lakh farmers depend on Nagpur orange cultivation. The orange peel is used to produce orange oil and flavouring. Maharashtra government supports the Nagpur Orange Geographic Indication.
