What you get

Interest rate of 8.2% per annum (revised quarterly). Minimum deposit ₹250, maximum ₹1.5 lakh per year. Account can be opened for up to 2 girl children per family. Maturity after 21 years from opening, or at marriage after 18 years. 50% withdrawal allowed after girl turns 18 for education. Full tax exemption under Section 80C, interest tax-free, maturity proceeds tax-free (EEE status). Account operated by parents/guardian until girl turns 18.

Girl children below 10 years of age. Account opened by parents or legal guardian.

  • Account at post office or authorized bank
  • Girl must be Indian resident
