National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) — Old Age, Widow, Disability Pension
Central pension of Rs 200-500/month for elderly, widows, and disabled BPL persons plus Rs 20,000 death benefit for family breadwinners.

What you get
NSAP comprises 5 components:
1. Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS):
- Age 60-79: Rs 200/month (Central share; States add Rs 200-2,000 more)
- Age 80+: Rs 500/month (Central share)
- BPL households only
2. Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS):
- Rs 300/month (Central share; States add more)
- Widows aged 40-79 from BPL households
3. Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS):
- Rs 300/month (Central share)
- Severely/multiple disabled persons aged 18-79 from BPL households
- Disability certificate from competent authority required
4. National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS):
- Rs 20,000 lump sum on death of breadwinner
- BPL households; breadwinner aged 18-59; apply within 90 days of death
5. Annapurna Scheme:
- 10 kg free food grain per month to OAP beneficiaries
State-level additions: Most states top up Central amounts; total pension often Rs 1,500-2,500/month
Apply: At Gram Panchayat or Tehsil/Block Development Officer office
Who can apply
Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. Age 60+ for old age pension. Widows aged 40+ (some states 18+). Severely disabled persons aged 18-79. Beneficiary should not be receiving similar pension from any other government scheme.
