Samsung Galaxy S25 vs. Galaxy S24: Which Compact Flagship Should You Choose?

Must read

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 are two strong contenders in the compact flagship space. The Galaxy S24 is currently priced at ₹64,999 for the 128GB variant on Samsung India’s official site. With an HDFC Bank offer, customers can get an instant discount of ₹10,000, bringing the effective price down to ₹54,999.

In comparison, the Galaxy S25 starts at ₹80,999 for the same 128GB storage. A similar ₹7,000 HDFC discount brings its cost to ₹73,999. This means the Galaxy S25 is ₹19,000 more expensive than the Galaxy S24 after discounts.

Design and Display

While both models follow Samsung’s minimalistic design approach, the Galaxy S25 offers some visual refinements. It introduces new exclusive colors like Navy and Icy Blue. The S25 also features slimmer bezels and blacked-out camera rings for a sleeker appearance. Both smartphones use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back for enhanced durability. The Galaxy S25 is also thinner at 7.2mm, compared to 7.6mm on the S24, giving it a lighter and more premium in-hand feel.

Performance and Specifications

The Galaxy S25 brings a noticeable performance jump, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, while the S24 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This new chip offers better energy efficiency and faster processing. The S25 comes with 12GB RAM across all variants, compared to 8GB RAM in the S24, making it better suited for multitasking and demanding applications. Both models offer up to 512GB of internal storage with no option for expansion via microSD card.

Battery and Charging

Both smartphones are similar in battery performance, with the Galaxy S25 carrying a 4,000mAh battery and the S24 featuring a slightly smaller 3,900mAh unit. Fast wired charging support remains identical on both at 45W. However, the S24 has an edge in wireless charging, offering 15W support, while the S25 drops it to 9W, which could be a downside for users who prefer cable-free charging.

Software and Support

Both devices ship with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14 and are promised to receive up to seven years of OS and security updates. Samsung’s long-term software support ensures both models remain up-to-date for years, adding value to the purchase.

Choosing between the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 depends on the user’s needs and budget. The Galaxy S25 is ideal for those seeking the latest design, improved processing power, and higher RAM. However, the Galaxy S24 remains a solid choice for those who want flagship performance and features at a significantly lower price. The better wireless charging on the S24 may also be a deciding factor for some.
