The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), which is part of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) of the Government of India, has been holding Rozgar Melas all across the country to promote employment initiatives. The purpose of these events is to link young people without jobs with appropriate private sector employment prospects.

Employers and job seekers come together for a half-day event called a Rozgar Mela to apply for and interview for open opportunities. The goal of this employment approach is to help businesses and job seekers connect quickly. The NSDC works with Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) to find private enterprises that take part in these Rozgar Melas.

Young people between the ages of 18 and 35 are the main target audience for the Rozgar Melas, which accepts students with a variety of educational backgrounds, including those who have finished the eighth, tenth, and twelfth grades as well as those with ITI, diploma, and graduate degrees. Candidates who have received training and certification and who satisfy the requirements of the National Skills Qualifications Framework are also included.

Through a variety of platforms, including print ads, bulk SMS, social media, and workshops at colleges and institutions in the area surrounding the event, job seekers are encouraged and informed about the Rozgar Mela.

Apart from job placements, Rozgar Melas offer a number of supplementary activities, such as:

  • career seekers and their parents can attend counselling sessions,
  • Kaushal Melas to register young people for new skill development training (PMKK/PMKVY), and
  • participate in skill displays where SSCs display their training methods, tools, and career roles.

In addition to the NSDC-organized Rozgar Melas, youths between the ages of 18 and 35 can attend Rozgar Melas of varying sizes held nationwide by connected organisations such as Sector Skill Councils, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras, and PMKVY training partners.

One of the government’s major initiatives to improve job prospects for young people in India is the Rozgar Mela. The Rozgar Mela encourages people to contribute to national progress while simultaneously addressing the urgent problem of unemployment by establishing direct contacts between companies and job seekers. The issuance of appointment letters to thousands of recruits over the several editions held nationwide highlights the government’s dedication to making job creation a top priority.

Additionally, by ensuring that new hires are adequately equipped to handle the demands of their positions, the training and skill development programs that go along with them help to create a talented workforce for the future. As it develops, the Rozgar Mela is essential to creating a more promising economic environment for India’s future workforce.
