Celebrated Kathak dancer and choreographer Kumudini Lakhia passed away at her residence in Ahmedabad on Saturday morning at the age of 95 due to age-related ailments.

Born on May 17, 1930, in Ahmedabad, Lakhia was instrumental in transforming Kathak from a traditional solo performance into a dynamic group art form. In 1967, she founded the Kadamb Centre for Dance and Music in Ahmedabad, where she developed innovative techniques and choreography that blended classical traditions with contemporary themes.
