Varanasi Tabla Pakhawaj Classical Music Uttar Pradesh

Varanasi (Benares Gharana) is one of India's foremost centres of classical music, producing master tabla players, vocalists, and sitarists. The Benares Gharana of tabla is distinct for its powerful bols and complex compositions. Traditional Tabla makers (tabhlas karigars) in Varanasi hand-make tabla pairs using goatskin, wood, and iron oxide paste. The Pakhawaj (mridanga precursor) is also made in Varanasi.
