Nagaur Cattle Fair Mustard Khichdi Livestock Rajasthan

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Nagaur district is the site of the Nagaur Cattle Fair (January-February) — one of the world's largest livestock fairs, second only to Pushkar Camel Fair in Rajasthan — where 70,000-80,000 cattle, bullocks, horses, and camels are traded alongside folk music performances and folk art displays over 4-5 days. Nagaur's Khichdi festival tradition and the district's mustard and cumin cultivation on semi-arid sandy soils are agricultural markers of the central Rajasthan belt between Jodhpur and Jaipur. The Nagaur Fort — one of Rajasthan's best-preserved Mughal-era forts with extraordinary architecture — has been restored and listed among the world's top 10 architectural renovations.
