Hoshiarpur Tarkashi Wood Inlay Craft Punjab

Tarkashi is a fine wire-inlay woodcraft unique to Hoshiarpur, where artisans press twisted brass and silver wire into incised grooves on sheesham rosewood to create geometric and floral patterns. The craft, practised by Muslim and Hindu mistri families for over three centuries, produces decorative boxes, picture frames, walking sticks, and furniture panels exported to Delhi craft emporia and international buyers. Hoshiarpur tarkashi received a Geographical Indication tag from the Government of India, recognising it as an authentic Punjab heritage craft.
