Kota (Raj), Jul 9 (PTI) A 25-year-old woman in Rajasthan's Jhalawar gave birth to quadruplets, three girls and a boy, at a government hospital, doctors said on Thursday. News of the quadruplets spread quickly across Jhalawar after the the delivery Wednesday evening, drawing relatives and well-wishers to the hospital to congratulate the new parents, Jyoti and Arun Kashyap. Paediatrician Dr Rajendra Gupta described the delivery as rare and said this was the first quadruplets he had witnessed at the Jhalawar Government Women's Hospital. This was "god's will", Arun said happily. "I was expecting only one daughter, but god has blessed me with three daughters and a son. Whatever he has given us is a matter of happiness." The couple already have a five-year-old son. Doctors at the Government Women's Hospital attached to SRG Hospital and Jhalawar Medical College said all four premature newborns were stable but three of them remained serious. They were born with low birth weight and have been admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and are under close medical supervision. The mother's condition is stable and recovering well, they said. Paediatrician Dr Rajendra Gupta described the delivery as very rare. He said that this was the first quadruplet delivery he had witnessed at the Jhalawar Government Women's Hospital. According to Gupta, doctors who examined the babies Thursday morning found both them and the mother to be stable. One of the four babies has shown slight improvement, while the condition of the other three remained serious at NICU, Dr Vishal Nagar said. Doctors said the coming days will be crucial as the premature, low-birth-weight infants continue to receive intensive neonatal care under constant observation. PTI COR SMV SMV SKY SKY
