Muzaffarpur (Bihar), Jul 6 (PTI) A 26-year-old woman was found dead with her throat slit at her parental home in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Rinku Devi (26).
Family members of the deceased alleged that her husband, Manoj Kumar Bhagat, killed her with a sharp object. Bhagat, who recently returned from Dubai, is absconding.
According to the police, the incident took place at Nawada village under the jurisdiction of Rajepur police station early on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, Ravikant, Station House Officer (SHO) of Rajepur police station, said, "At the time of the incident, the couple's six-month-old daughter was inside the room. Family members alleged that Bhagat killed his wife with a sharp object and fled the scene with their two-year-old son." According to the victim's family, Rinku Devi had been staying at her parental home in Nawada village for some time. Her husband arrived at his in-laws' house on Sunday. He had been living in Dubai and had recently returned from abroad. Later, an argument broke out between the couple over a domestic dispute, he said.
"After that, he attacked his wife with the sharp weapon... She died on the spot. Later, he fled the scene. This is what her family members told the police," the SHO said.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, the SHO said, adding that the accused will be nabbed soon.
