Woman electrocuted by live fence around sugarcane field in UP's Balrampur

Balrampur (UP), Jul 13 (PTI) A 55-year-old woman died after coming in contact with a live barbed wire fence allegedly installed around a sugarcane field to keep stray cattle away in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district on Monday, police said. The incident took place in Benipurwa village when Shanti Devi was on her way to attend nature's call, Circle Officer Jitendra Kumar said. He said the woman came in contact with the electrified fence and died on the spot. Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's husband, police have registered a case against two people and launched an investigation, he said.
