New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Tuesday urged senior lawyers to routinely provide free legal assistance to the poorest of citizens to ensure justice is truly accessible. He also emphasised that the Constitution is an evolving document that balances continuity and change. Addressing the launch of a book titled 'The Voice of Justice: Justice Gavai Speaks' -- a collection of speeches, lectures and judicial reflections of former Chief Justice of India B R Gavai -- Radhakrishnan said while the Constitution remains the bedrock of national unity and democratic stability, Parliament's amending powers ensure it stays relevant. He emphasised that strong democratic institutions and the justice system rely heavily on judicial restraint, institutional integrity, constitutional discipline and public trust. The vice president noted that governance must adapt to social realities and actively work toward uplifting marginalised communities to ensure individual dignity and equal opportunity. He urged the legal fraternity to routinely provide free legal help to the poorest of citizens to ensure justice is accessible to everyone. PTI NAB ARB ARB
