Bengaluru, Jul 8 (PTI) Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Wednesday accused the Congress of “hypocrisy” for demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation in connection with the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He asserted that "no amount of noise, fake outrage, or selective morality" could shake the people’s faith in Modi. “Congress has turned hypocrisy into a habit. The KPCC demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resignation over Ayodhya Ram Mandir donations is nothing but political drama,” Vijayendra said in a post on X. “Before pointing fingers at PM Modi, Congress should first answer why Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi continue to hold public positions while facing serious questions in the National Herald case, which involves assets built on the legacy of our freedom movement,” he added. Pointing out that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is an independent body, he said that the moment allegations surfaced, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath acted immediately and ordered an investigation. “That is how a government with nothing to hide behaves. In Karnataka, however, the Congress has tried every trick to bury the MUDA and Valmiki scams. The same party that screams political vendetta when the ED or CBI probes its scams is now suddenly showing faith in the CBI when it suits its politics,” he added. The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee general body meeting on Tuesday passed five resolutions, including one demanding a CBI investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. It also called for the resignation of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, holding them morally responsible for the alleged scam. “This is not concern for Ayodhya. This is the Congress trying to hide its own corruption behind the name of Ram Mandir. No amount of noise, fake outrage, or selective morality can shake people’s faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Vijayendra said, adding that Congress could keep shouting, but the people, as always, would see through its drama. The Uttar Pradesh SIT has arrested eight accused in connection with the alleged embezzlement of cash offerings at the Ram temple. PTI KSU SSK
