Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jul 10 (PTI) A 60-year-old woman was killed and her husband injured after their mud house collapsed during heavy rain in Muzaffarnagar district early Friday, police said. The incident took place at Khampur village under the Mansurpur police station limits when Saroj (60) and her husband, Krishan Kumar, were asleep inside their house, SHO Vipin Tyagi said. Saroj’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination while Kumar is undergoing treatment at a hospital, he said. Heavy rain continued in Muzaffarnagar for the third consecutive day on Friday, disrupting normal life across the district. Waterlogging was reported from several low-lying areas, causing inconvenience to residents, officials said. Parts of Uttar Pradesh received heavy to extreme downpour in the last 48 hours, with Muzaffaragar recording 114.4 mm of rainfall on Thursday, according to IMD data. The weather office has forecast rainfall and winds up to 40 kmph with lightning in the region on Friday. PTI COR KIS ARI ARI
