Hardoi (UP), Jul 15 (PTI) Forty-six passengers had a narrow escape after a Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus collided with a parked truck and overturned on the Katra-Bilhaur highway in Hardoi district on Wednesday, police said.
A few passengers sustained minor injuries, but no casualties or serious injuries were reported, the police said.
The accident occurred near Kanhari village in the Sawayajpur police station area when the bus was travelling from Farrukhabad to Hardoi.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near a roadside eatery, causing the bus to ram into a parked truck before overturning on the roadside.
The collision triggered panic among the passengers, while local residents rushed to the spot and helped rescue those trapped inside the bus.
Sawayajpur Station House Officer Prince Kumar and Rupapur outpost in-charge Atul Gupta reached the spot with a police team and, with the help of villagers, ensured the safe evacuation of all passengers.
Eyewitnesses claimed that the bus driver and conductor left the spot after the accident. Police said the cause of the accident is being investigated. PTI COR ABN SHS SHS
