Lucknow, July 11 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh government has entrusted outgoing zila panchayat chairpersons with the responsibility of serving as administrators following the conclusion of their terms.
An order to this effect was issued Friday by Principal Secretary, Panchayati Raj Department, Anil Kumar.
The five-year term of all district panchayats constituted in 2021 concludes Saturday, July 11.
According to the order, the zila panchayat chairpersons have been assigned the responsibility of acting as administrators until new zila panchayats are constituted, or for a maximum period of six months.
The order states that outgoing district panchayat chairpersons will be responsible for discharging routine administrative duties until the new zila panchayats for the said period.
State general secretary of the Uttar Pradesh District Panchayat Presidents' Association and zila panchayat president/administrator of Mau, Manoj Rai, expressed gratitude for the government's decision to appoint zila panchayat chairpersons as administrators.
He specifically thanked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, describing the decision as historic and in public interest. PTI AR NAV ARB ARB
