Ayodhya, Jul 17 (PTI) A 150-bed multi-specialty cancer hospital-cum-institute will be set up in Ayodhya on six acres of land to be donated by the family of the late trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Bimlendra Mohan Pratap Mishra, officials associated with the project said.
The project will be developed by the Namo Cancer Care Foundation, a non-profit organisation established under the corporate social responsibility initiative of a company, in association with the Ayodhya Cancer Care Foundation. The hospital is expected to become operational within two years.
According to those associated with the project, the land, located in the Darshan Nagar area of Ayodhya district, will be transferred to the Ayodhya Cancer Care Foundation through a gift deed on July 29.
Mishra, a permanent member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, died in August last year.
Family members said the six-acre land is being donated without any monetary consideration. The gift deed will be executed by Mishra's son, Yatindra Mishra, and his brother, Shailendra Mishra, in the presence of representatives of both organisations.
The foundation stone for the project is expected to be laid within three months of the land transfer, following which construction will begin. The entire facility is likely to be completed within two years, officials said.
"This hospital is a tribute to my father's memory and to the values he lived by -- compassion, service and care for those in need," Yatindra Mishra said.
The proposed hospital will come up off the Ayodhya-Ambedkar Nagar road, around five kilometres from the Devkali intersection on the Lucknow-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur National Highway, making it accessible to patients from across the Awadh region, a The facility is part of the Namo Cancer Access Network's initiative to expand affordable and quality cancer treatment infrastructure in underserved regions.
