Bengaluru, Jul 6 (PTI) The officials in a high-level delegation from the Central Rural Development Ministry that is visiting Karnataka on Monday said that the implementation of key rural development programmes of the Government of India is progressing smoothly in the state. Ministry of Rural Development will continue to extend all necessary support to the State for their effective implementation, they added. The delegation, led by Altaf Hussain Haji, Deputy Director General (DDG) & Statistical Adviser, met Divya Prabhu, Commissioner, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka, to review the implementation of the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-GRAM G) programme in the state, officials said. The delegation also included Anil Kumar K C, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, and Baldev Kumar Verma, Assistant Director (Rural Housing). The state government officials informed the delegation during the meeting that the implementation of the programme is progressing as per schedule without any major impediments, an official statement said. Certain administrative and procedural measures are currently being undertaken to further streamline implementation and ensure the smooth delivery of the scheme across the state, it said. The visiting team subsequently held a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials overseeing various flagship rural development programmes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana--Gramin (PMAY-G), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP). "The discussions focused on the progress of these programmes, strengthening Centre--state coordination, accelerating implementation, enhancing monitoring mechanisms, and ensuring timely delivery of benefits to rural communities," the statement said. During the review, the ministry's officials reiterated the Government of India's commitment to providing continuous technical assistance, implementation support, monitoring, and capacity-building initiatives to ensure the successful execution of rural development programmes in Karnataka. The delegation also emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination, regular monitoring, and data-driven governance to achieve programme objectives within the stipulated timelines, it said. The effective implementation of these flagship initiatives is expected to accelerate rural infrastructure development, enhance livelihood opportunities, empower women through Self-Help Groups, and further strengthen Karnataka's contribution towards the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the statement added.
