Erode (Tamil Nadu), Jul 16 (PTI) CPI MP K Subbarayan on Thursday expressed concern over the law and order in Tamil Nadu, urging the TVK government to take the matter seriously.
Addressing a press conference here, Subbarayan acknowledged that a two-month period is insufficient to fully evaluate a newly formed government. However, he emphasised that the unceasing rise in law and order issues is "dangerous." "The TVK government, which placed its views before the people by strongly opposing such actions during the election campaign, must consider this with concern," Subbarayan said.
"The fact that this is increasing without decreasing is dangerous, and we will never accept this trend," he added.
The CPI MP also categorically dismissed the possibility of his party joining the state Cabinet.
Clarifying the party's stance, he stated that the CPI's decision is to firmly provide outside support solely for the formation of the government. "We will not participate in the Cabinet. Our opposition and support will be strictly based on the nature of the decisions taken by the government," he affirmed.
Furthermore, Subbarayan criticised the provision of compensation from state coffers for incidents such as the recent Karur stampede.
Calling it a "bad precedent" that would lead to various repercussions, he stated that while political parties could provide financial help on humanitarian grounds, utilising government funds for such purposes is unacceptable. PTI JR KH
