Uddhav asks Sena (UBT) MLAs, MLCs to take 'Ram Raksha Andolan' to district level

Mumbai, Jul 8 (PTI) Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has asked his party legislators to take the 'Ram Raksha Andolan' against the ruling BJP to the district level and different cities, including Nagpur. Thackeray held a meeting with Sena (UBT) MLAs and MLCs at his residence 'Matoshri' in Mumbai's Bandra area late Tuesday evening. The former Maharashtra chief minister on Sunday launched the 'Ram Raksha Andolan' against the alleged donation theft at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The agitation should be taken to the district level and cities like Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ratnagiri, he told those who attended the meeting. Thackeray himself or his son and MLA Aaditya Thackeray is likely to take part in the Nagpur protest, the city where the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has its headquarters, sources said. The alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple came to light on June 7. An FIR was registered on June 25 on the basis of a preliminary report submitted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government. Eight persons associated with the temple's donation-counting process have been arrested so far, and the investigation is underway. Thackeray also asked Sena (UBT) leaders to pay close attention to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra. He also took stock of the issues raised by his party members in both Houses of the Maharashtra legislature during the ongoing monsoon session, a legislator said. PTI PR KRK GK
