Two women held for running prostitution racket in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jul 8 (PTI) Two women were arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket at rented homes in parts of the city, police said on Wednesday. The arrests were made recently by the Women Protection Squad of the Central Crime Branch following a tip on July 3, they said. Based on the information, officers and staff of the CCB Women Protection Squad conducted raids at the identified locations on different dates, police said. During the operation, two women who were allegedly operating the prostitution racket by exploiting other women were apprehended, and two women who were forced into prostitution were rescued, a senior police officer said. During interrogation, the apprehended women reportedly confessed that, with the intention of earning more money, they used to contact prospective customers over the phone, invite them to the rented houses, and facilitate prostitution, he said. Cases have been registered against the accused at Girinagar Police Station and Govindarajanagar Police Station, and further investigation is in progress, police said. PTI AMP KH
