Two teenagers drown in quarry in Mumbai

Mumbai, Jul 11 (PTI) Two teenagers drowned after accidentally falling into a water-filled quarry in suburban Dahisar here on Saturday morning, civic officials said. The incident occurred around 10.30 am at Shaikh Khadan in Ketki Pada, an area under the jurisdiction of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), they said. According to the fire brigade, the youngsters fell into the 10 to 15-foot-deep quarry. Fire brigade personnel fished out the duo and rushed them to the civic-run Shatabdi Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The deceased have been identified as Piyush Gupta (19) and Om Ankush Singh (19), an official said, adding that further details are awaited. PTI KK ARU
