Giridih, Jul 10 (PTI) Two persons, including a 17-year-old girl, drowned in a pond in Jharkhand's Giridih district on Friday, while three others were rescued by locals, police said.
The incident took place at Gawan village under Gawan police station limits when the five had gone to the pond for a ritual bath (Dashkarm Snan).
"They started drowning during the bath, following which locals rescued three of them, while the bodies of two others were recovered," police said.
"The deceased have been identified as Kalwatiya Devi (40), a resident of Kheda More, and Anjali Kumari (17), a resident of Birne village, within the same police station limits. The bodies have been sent to Sadar Hospital, Giridih, for post-mortem examinations," Khorimahua SDPO Amrendra Kumar said. PTI COR RPS RPS MNB
