Agartala, Jul 18 (PTI) The CPI(M) Tripura state committee will organise rallies across the state in solidarity with the Cockroadh Janata Party (CJP)’s proposed ‘Parliament March’ scheduled for July 20, a senior leader said here on Saturday.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk who was on an indefinite strike demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following NEET-UG paper leak has announced that the ‘Parliament March’ will be organised on July 20, the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament.
However, citing medical advice and Delhi High Court directions, the police whisked him away to a hospital on Saturday morning on the 21st day of his hunger strike at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, drawing condemnation from opposition parties which accused the government of curbing dissent.
“We strongly condemn and express concern over the way Sonam Wangchuk was forcefully picked up by police personnel and got admitted to a Delhi hospital citing the Supreme Court’s order. It is a serious matter”, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state assembly, Jitendra Chaudhury, said at a press conference.
According to him, the CPI(M) will organise statewide rallies in solidarity with the CJP’s ‘Parliament March’ to make the people’s voice louder against the alleged misgovernance of the Narendra Modi government.
“We appeal to all political parties and people to join the movement to strengthen the people's voice against the Modi government under whose leadership the country is grappling with enormous problems,” he stated. PTI PS NN
