Jaipur, Jul 6 (PTI) The foundation training programme for 55 newly appointed Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) officers commenced at the Rajasthan Police Academy here on Monday, with DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma emphasising the need for modern and people-centric policing. Addressing the inaugural session, Sharma interacted with the trainee officers and urged them to adopt innovative and citizen-friendly policing practices to effectively tackle emerging challenges and earn public trust. According to an official statement, Sharma said their entry into the Rajasthan Police marks the beginning of a responsible life dedicated to the Constitution, law and public service. He said the police uniform symbolises not just authority but also sensitivity, impartiality, integrity, discipline and accountability. He advised the trainees to make the most of the training period by developing physical fitness, leadership skills, moral values, respect for human rights and team spirit to effectively deal with future challenges. Sharma said the training programme is based on a model curriculum developed by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (Government of India), incorporating modern training methodologies in line with contemporary policing needs. He also urged trainers to ensure the holistic development of trainees into competent and sensitive police officers. Director General of Police (Training) Anil Paliwal highlighted the importance of training and advised officers to undergo it with full discipline and commitment to become effective police leaders. Rajasthan Police Academy Director Sanjeeb Kumar Narzary briefed about the new batch, stating that the objective of the training is to develop capable, disciplined and people-oriented police officers.
