Mumbai, Jul 8 (PTI) Train services between Neral and Karjat stations in Maharashtra’s Raigad district remained suspended for nearly an hour on Wednesday after the overflowing Ulhas river caused waterlogging on tracks, officials said. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, said that no trains operated in either direction between 10.40 am and 11.32 am. He said the Ulhas river had been flowing above the danger level since 9.30 am amid heavy rains in the catchment areas. This led to the inundation of the tracks, he said. The Divisional Railway Manager of Central Railway’s Mumbai division shared on social media that services on both the up and down lines in the section were temporarily suspended until further notice due to waterlogging between Neral and Karjat station. All possible efforts are being made to restore train operations at the earliest, the post said. Earlier in the day, suburban services on a section of the Central Railway network were delayed after ballast beneath the tracks was washed away between Neral and Shelu stations amid heavy rainfall.
