Bilaspur, Jul 13 (PTI) Three wagons of an empty goods train derailed near Kargi Road station in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district on Monday afternoon, Railway officials said.
The derailment occurred at around 2.35 pm on the Down line of the Bilaspur-Katni section when the empty goods train was heading from Pendra Road to Bilaspur, an official said.
Soon after the derailment under the Bilaspur division, multiple teams comprising Railway officials and personnel from engineering, operations and technical departments rushed to the spot and began restoration work to re-rail the affected wagons, he said.
The Up line on the route remained completely operational, and movement of passenger as well as freight trains on that line continued without any disruption, the official said.
South East Central Railway (SECR) Senior Public Relations Officer Santosh Kumar said restoration work was nearing completion and traffic on the Down line would resume shortly.
"The exact cause of the derailment will be known only after a technical investigation is completed," Kumar added. PTI COR TKP RSY
