Thane, Jul 8 (PTI) A case has been registered against three persons for allegedly cheating a 37-year-old Thane woman of Rs 10 lakh by promising her a government job, police said on Wednesday.
The complainant, a resident of the Majiwada area in Thane city, was allegedly duped between June 25 and December 25 of last year, an official from the Kapurbawdi police station said.
The accused, identified as Satish Wankhede, Rajguru Saheb, and Kamble, whose full name was not given, allegedly approached the woman, claiming that Wankhede was a senior government official and could secure a job for her.
They collected Rs 10 lakh from the woman and assured her that she would get a government job, said the official, citing the FIR.
However, despite repeated follow-ups, the woman neither got the promised job nor received a refund of her money. She then approached the police.
“A probe into the matter is underway,” said an official from Kapurbawdi police station. PTI COR NR
