Telangana's EAGLE Force seizes 237 kg of ganja, two held

Hyderabad, Jul 16 (PTI) Telangana’s anti-narcotics unit, EAGLE Force, on Thursday said it has apprehended two persons allegedly transporting ganja in a lorry container near here and seized 237 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.18 crore. On credible information, the EAGLE Force (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) conducted an operation on NH65 (Vijayawada–Mumbai Highway) and apprehended the duo, including the owner-cum-driver of the lorry container, while they were on their way to Pune via Hyderabad, an official release said. It said 237 kg of ganja concealed in the cabin of the lorry container was seized. The narcoctics substance in 10 gunny bags was handed over to the duo by a supplier in Vishakapatnam on the night of July 14. The accused have been taken into custody and a case has been registered. Three other accused -- the financier and peddler, besides the supplier -- were absconding. Further investigation is underway to apprehend the absconding accused and dismantle the network, the EAGLE Force added. PTI VVK VVK KH
